The members of ULI’s Revitalization and Affordable Housing Task Force hosted The ABC’s of Affordable Housing on Thursday, May 17. The overall goal of the Task Force is to create awareness and eliminate misconceptions around what affordable housing is and is not and this was our first membership wide event of this type.
While enjoying hors d’oeuvres and drinks, we heard an overview of Affordable Housing from Steve Kelley, Vice President, Community Development Officer, EverBank. His presentation was followed by Bernard “Barney” Smith, board member and past chair of Florida Housing Finance Corporation (FHFC) who provided attendees with insights on affordable housing initiatives across Florida. Attendees were then able to participate in a tour of The Lofts and break-out sessions with Michelle Tappouni, Ability Housing; Ryan Hoover, Vestcor; and Jerome Crawford, Metro North Community Development Corp.
The ULI Affordable Housing & Revitalization Task Force will be coordinating another program this Fall to continue our efforts on awareness and education of this important initiative. Should you have any suggestions or would like to get involved, please contact Bill Byers at firstname.lastname@example.org.
